The big brother programme
You don’t join alone
Every new member is paired with a big brother, an active who has been through the process and whose task is to see that you get through it too.
That pairing is no mere ceremony. Your big is the person you call about a course you’re failing, an internship application you’re stuck on, or a decision you don’t want to make alone. Over time those pairings accumulate into family lines, and the family is what most brothers mean when they say “my brothers”.
What a term looks like
- Weekly chapter meeting
- Brotherhood events, low-key and brothers only
- Socials and mixers with other Greek and cultural organisations
- A philanthropy push around the registry drive
- One retreat off campus
- Class reveal at the end of the new member period
Beyond the chapter
A network you can travel on
ΛΦΕ has chapters across six regions of North America, plus associate chapters including McMaster. Interchapter visits are a real part of the calendar; brothers from Alpha Xi regularly host and are hosted in turn, and delegates go to the international convention each summer.
The practical version: you can land in a city where you know nobody and find someone who will meet you for dinner.
On campus
Part of the wider community
Alpha Xi works alongside U of T’s Asian cultural organisations and the broader Greek council. Lunar New Year events, Asian Heritage Month programming, collaborative philanthropy, and joint socials are all standing fixtures.
We are Asian-interest and open to all, and the programming reflects both.
The only way to see it is to show up.
Rush events are open, free, and commit you to nothing.
